Student qualifies as a Healthcare Assistant with a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training

In its ruling dated 28 November 2023, a cantonal examination committee upheld an objection from Kanzlei König against a grading decision on a vocational education course. As a result of this objection, the appellant was issued a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training as a Healthcare Assistant (Fachfrau Gesundheit EFZ).

The VET Diploma for Healthcare Assistants is awarded to those who successfully complete the qualification process for this vocational programme (Article 22(1) Ordinance on Vocational Education for the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training for Healthcare Assistants [SR 412.101.220.96]). The qualification process assesses various competencies in this vocation, including through an oral examination on practical work and a written examination on professional knowledge. In the objection process, an inappropriate evaluation of these examination areas was successfully challenged. Consequently, a sufficient overall grade was achieved for the qualification process, as is required for the granting of the VET Diploma for Healthcare Assistants (cf. Article 19(1)(b) Ordinance on Vocational Education for the Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training for Healthcare Assistants). Challenging the inappropriate evaluation of an oral examination is difficult due to the shortage of evidence.
